Laura “Lolita”

EVENT PRODUCER AND DANCE INSTRUCTOR

Laura “Lolita” has always loved all kinds of music and dance. Whether she was going to live music concerts, taking ballet or dancing at the Broken Spoke in Austin, Texas, she loves music and dance! She has also enjoyed teaching people of all ages in different sports and dance.

In 2007, Laura “Lolita” had an idea which was to produce one big community Salsa event in Boise, Idaho. She wanted to showcase the music, dance and culture of salsa in Boise which had never been produced in Boise. She asked her friend Giovanni to be the DJ for the event. With the help of many other wonderful people in the community and the Knitting Factory Concert House she produced the first Idaho Salsa Congress in Boise, Idaho which featured a live salsa orchestra, professional dancers, workshops, local performances, and social dancing until 2:00am!

The event was a big success! The Knitting Factory general manager was so impressed with the event that he suggested trying a few monthly tropical Latin events and the rest as they say is history! Salsa Idaho not only produced monthly events but an annual event (for 10 years) featuring some of the very best salsa orchestras on the west coast including a GRAMMY award winning orchestra!

Currently, Salsa Idaho is producing two monthly events, Tropical Latin Party! and Reggaeton Night!
